Cheers to 30 Years
Family Support Services’ 30th Anniversary Gala
What Does Your Support Do?
We all know that when families struggle, children loose out. Without the structure of a safe, healthy, happy home, it is hard for children to grow and thrive as they should.
Our job here at Family Support Services is to provide resources and stability to help families ensure that their children have a safe place to grow up. Take our Kinship Support Services program for example. Kin caregivers are often low income, elderly and socially isolated. They often lack vital knowledge about contemporary trends and education systems. Add to that the pressure brought on by the fact that the loss of a parent often causes kinship children to experience emotional and behavioral problems. By offering resources like support groups, the Kinship Youth Program, and case management, we are able to help these caregivers and youth navigate their challenges successfully. The same is true in all of our programs, in which your support helps us target specific needs families in the Bay Area have to address.
2018 Eat Drink and Be Giving Gala
The “Eat Drink and Be Giving” Gala was hosted on October 6th, 2018 at the Oakland Marriott, City Center. The evening gala included dinner, and soulful music. The program also included both a silent and live auction, and our exciting “Cake Auction,” a crowd favorite, along with a “Fund-A-Need” segment. The Gala allows us to raise funds to support our programs that target families, youth and children whose health and welfare are vulnerable as a result of a variety of circumstances.
