We are delighted to announce that long-time Respite Care Provider Roy Holmes is the winner of FSSBA’s Second Annual "Tony" Award, for providing exceptional support services through FSSBA’s Respite/ Child Care Program.
Respite Care Providers are nominated for this award by the families for whom they provide specialized care. When we asked our families for nominees for this year’s award, we received this special note from a caregiver supported by Roy:
“Roy seems to me to be sensitive and in tune with the children in his care. He is patient with them and he says words right to them. He likes to see them have fun and smiles on their faces. Roy will go the extra mile so that the children can be happy. Roy is kind, respectful and willing to help those in need. His shining face lets me know that he enjoys his work.”
Roy Holmes has been providing respite care for children with special needs for many years, and tells us that he loves his work because of the meaningful ways that he is able to make the lives of others better every day.
Congratulations, Roy, and thank you for your dedication to providing exceptional care in your work. FSSBA is proud to count you as one of the many amazing Respite Child Care Providers who make our program so special.
About the Tony Award:
The “Tony” Award was established in 2013 to honor the life of Tony Foss, an exceptional Respite Care Provider who died in 2011. Tony understood the importance of respite care in the lives of the families we support, and took to heart his role in making life more fulfilling for the people with whom he worked.
To honor Tony Foss’ memory, and at the encouragement of Ms. Esther Chow, FSSBA established The ‘Tony’ Award. Each year, this award will be presented to a Respite Care Provider who demonstrates the kind of excellence that Tony brought to his work every day.
