Lou Fox to Retire in 2015.

DSC_6659crGT MN Cropped Dear Colleagues and Friends of FSSBA,

It is with mixed feelings that I am writing to inform you that I will be retiring next year.

As many of you know, Judy Levin and I started Family Support Services of the Bay Area (FSSBA) in October, 1989, in order to continue the Respite Care Program formerly operated by Children’s Home Society. Throughout the past 25 years, this core program has grown and expanded, and continues to be our agency’s largest program.

During these past 25 years, the agency has developed additional services that are in keeping with our mission, which is: To nurture children, youth, and caregivers to keep families healthy and intact. I am very proud of the fact that FSSBA has made a significant impact in the lives of many Bay Area families. I commend our highly professional, hard-working staff for their dedication and commitment. On-going feedback from families and third party evaluators include glowing reports regarding the impact our staff and their services have made. I have no doubt that these high-quality services will continue under new agency leadership.

The Board of Directors, under the leadership of Board President Mary Henderson, has hired a consulting firm, Leadership Search Partners, to assist the board in their recruitment efforts. I know the founder of this group, and am aware of their high quality work. After having spent a number of months getting to know FSSBA, they will begin recruiting for my position in August. It is expected that my successor will be hired by the end of the calendar year, and that I will provide training in December and/or January, 2015. If it takes longer to find my replacement, I will stay on into 2015 for as long as needed.

I anticipate a smooth transition, as I have confidence that the board, with the help of the consultants, will hire the right person for this position – someone who is bright, competent, caring, committed to and passionate about our mission. While this executive search is underway, I will be honored at our agency’s 25th Anniversary Celebration. I hope that you will join us on November 15th on Treasure Island for this fun-filled and memorable event where we will raise funds for the continuation of this important work.

I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your contributions in FSSBA’s success. I will miss having regular contact with you, but hope to see you at future FSSBA events.

With fond memories,
Lou Fox
Executive Director
