Cheryl Smith, MA
Ms. Cheryl Smith is the Executive Director of Family Support Services, a non-profit organization that offers programs and services for families, caregivers, and children whose health and welfare are vulnerable as a result of a variety of circumstances.
Smith’s experience includes leadership roles, managing all aspects of operations, including fiscal, programmatic, marketing, human resource, strategic planning, and resource development. In her current position she directs the delivery of high quality programs and services in three Bay Area Counties with a staff of more than 50 full-time and 70 part-time employees who serve over 1,200 families each year.
Smith’s professional career spans over 20 years and is a blend of work in non-profit, corporate, and government organizations. Before coming to Family Support Services, she was the Director of Community Affairs for the Lennar Corporation, Executive Director for the Bayview Hunters Point YMCA, and, early in her career, served as a community educator for the SF Department of Public Health. Smith is a member of the Board of Directors for Young Community Developers, and is a member of San Francisco Business and Professional Women Inc.
Smith received both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from San Francisco State University, and completed Leadership San Francisco in 2009.
She is the mother of two teenagers, Mose and Malia.
